Rebuild kits for master cylinders for '93 M900

I need rebuild kits for master cylinders for '93 M900, please, if anyone can help.* The clutch side is needed urgently; the brake side fairly soon.* (Are they the same kit on both sides?)* If anyone has these, or knows where to get them, I'd like to buy at least the two, and maybe a further extra or two.* I've got two shops looking, but no luck yet -- Ducati doesn't supply them, and apparently Brembo doesn't either anymore for this model.* It's the old coffin-style type.

Thanks in advance,
PhilB

Have you checked here?

I couldn't get anybody to agree which kit, if any, would repair my wonky Sport Classic clutch master and kept getting told that no Ducati repair facility is allowed to rebuild them, and hence why you can't get the parts. Brembo does not want kits sold to the general public as they can't be assured we'd put them together correctly and thus sue them in the event of rapture. I hope you can find the kits you need, if not I'd call Yoyodyne. They appear to be one of the best sources for Brembo. I ordered my new master replacement from them.

Thanks; I'll try to figure out if that is the right one for my brake. My shop says that the brake and clutch cylinders have different piston sizes and thus have different rebuild kits. It's the clutch one I need most badly.

I was reading the most clutch masters are 12mm, only trouble is that there seems to be about 10 different 12mm kits.

I do wish they'd simplify this as I was pissed off to need a $230 master cylinder for a bike that only has 8,000 miles. $30 should be all it takes to repack the damn thing.

Thank you very much, sir.

Hi david-K,

On a M900, the brake master cylinder is supposed to be a 16mm sized (to go with two 4 pistons caliper)

On the bevel Heaven site, they do not seem to have the rebuilt kit for a cofin style brake master cylinder 16mm...But if I were you, I would give them a call to see if they can get one for you...

And to answer Disco_Frank's question, I am not sure what size is the clutch master cylinder on a M600 of 1994...But my guess would be that most probably it is the same size than a M900 (13 mm) because the oil line is quite the same length and that the clutch slave cylinder is pretty much the same...But you should do some research on that matter and keep us informed here on this forum.

It is good to know that I can be of good help to other Ducati monster's fan...

Do not hesitate if you have other questions on other subject...I know almost everything on Carburated M900...

We did find rebuild kits available, at least for the clutch, from either Yoyodyne or from Bevel Heaven.

However, the shop that's doing the work had a pair of very lightly used MCs from a 796 (that they had replaced with fancier ones for a racebike project) that they gave me a break on. They wind up being only $50 more than doing the rebuilds, due to labor cost of rebuilding, and they are known to seal, while a rebuild might not work out if the original cylinder bores are too worn.

So I'm going with that, especially since the rebuilds would have to be ordered and take a couple extra days, while the 796 MCs can go on today, and I'm paying rent on a car until my bike is back.

It's a bit of a shame that I'll lose that bit of patina and have to have more shiny new bits on it, but I guess it can't much be helped.

A BUMP and
A big thanks to Steve at Bevel Heaven...
Orded my new MC (needed the whole she-bang as the 16mm MC has NO re-build kit!!) on Monday and it arrived in my mail TODAY!! Added bonus as this is the 1st weekend of riding that is predicted to be over 70 degrees!! I'll install in the AM and hope to be out in the afternoon!!
Thanks Steve!!

Monster brake kits

Now for the bad news. Ducati and Brembo both don't stock rebuild kits for brake and clutch cylinders. Liability issues for those who would not put them together right meant that Ducati and Brembo both agreed to only sell complete units. The clutch side for my S2R-1000 was $250.00 Welcome to the wonderful world of Italian motorcycles and repair parts.....
