Question : Has anyone out there uprated / changed the front brakes on the latest S2R 803? eg to four piston / 320 mm .... if so, what was invloved and what was the result?

Ducati sells the Goldline 4pin 320mm as a direct replacement for the s2r 800 for about $550. Look on ebay tho, you can usually find the calipers and rotors for a couple hundread bucks.

Whas involved? Pull the front wheel, replace the rotors (same bolt pattern) pop off old calipers, replace, bleed brakes and go.

Might want to look into upgradeing the lines and master cylinder.

If you haven't yet, try just replacing the pads with some HH ones. The stock pads are FF and suck. EBC or Ferodo pads are about 50 for both calipers. I did this and it has held me over until I can/want to spend the cash on the goldlines.

Hey buddy, thanks a bunch for the response - realy helpful. Like you say, maybe go for the pad change first and save some of my hard-earned $$$. If I do decide to change out for the 4 pot / 320 mm kit I'd definately change out the lines and master cylinder also. All the best - Vic

I don't know for 100% since I did it the e-bay + custom way - but I think the DP kit comes with a line. And surprisingly the dp kit doesn't cost that much, considering it's calipers and rotors. Independantly rotors will run you nearly that for a pair.

As far as chaing out the master, it's not *needed* It went from the 2 pot, 300mm to the 4 pot 320s on my bike and retained the coffin type master with no ill effect.

I bought the 4pad Brembos and 320 mm rotors for my 800. Just waiting on the custom Spiegler lines to come in and then they're going on the bike. Should be a huge improvement over the stock set up.

I'm not changing out the masters.

The Ducati kit I got included the following.

320mm rotors
Gold Brembos 4pot/2pad
New lines
New master w/lever

All for $525

I then sold my stock stuff to a fellow DMLer for a project.

I bought a set of 4pot/2pad calipers with HH pads and a gold line master off of ebay, and some snow flake rotors of another duc forum, and kept the OEM bake line. I am very happy with how it came out, I did some shoping around and I only paid about $415 total

Yeah but what i wanted the feed back was if the ebay link i posted was compatible. I did a search and posted on this thread to keep it "clean" and organized and not repost. Thank you
Those look like the standard 4 pot/2pad goldline rotors to me and they're 65mm, so I assume they would work if you got a 320mm rotor with the correct offset. What's unclear in that ad is whether those are new or used. You can get those calipers brand new for that 'Buy It Now' price.

it seems to me that why waste time and effort on e bay cobbling together stuff that may be new,or may be used, that may or may not fit, when for 5 and a quarter you can buy the right stuff with a warranty.
Maybe my thought process is different from some............
I was surprised to see that the kit came with a new master cylinder.I shall just get the kit when I do mine.Less hassle, new parts, right fitment, and warranty= a no brainer. [thumbsup]

Do you have the part number for this kit? That seems like a smokin' good price, and a similar kit shown in the DP catalog doesn't include the master/lever.

Which dealer did you use?

These are straight out of the DP catalog. Part #96845805B

That was back in 06. The catalog did not show the new master but it came with the kit. Several others did the same upgrade and the MC was included in the kit. I got it from my locl dealer, Eastern Cycle, in Beverly, MA. Any Ducati dealer should be able to order it for you.

It's true, my dealer had a real hard time believing this kit came with everything for that price. I did the pad upgrade on the stock S2R brakes and it worked great for a while. After a while it just warped the rotors from all the heat. They can't dissipate like the larger ones.

I had the same upgrade on my S2R [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
