i just recently installed square tooth cam belts on my monster. I took off round tooth belts. My question is running square tooth belts will not affect the engine will it?

When looking at the sprockets and belts it seemed as though the square tooth belt matches up really well. I even started it and revved it in neutral and it seemed fine. I hope it is the right fit.
Well since I just looked to see what your bike is, it should have Square tooth belts on it. So you should be good

square tooth belts were on 600 and 750 up to '97. all 900 have round tooth.

i've heard of people doing this before and bending stuff. i wouldn't even run it. get the right belts.

or, keep going and let us know how long it lasts.

So I called Ca Cycle works today about the belts. The belts I ordered were the bucci aftermarket belts. They explained to me that it was not possible for actual square tooth belts to even be put on a m900. Square tooth belts have less rubber and teeth than the stock belts. Bucci has to make the belts look a little different so they arent copying ducati. Since the belts looked a little different i assumed that the belts were square tooth. Look where assuming gets you! ha. Have to hand it to CA Cycle for taking their time to explain it all to me. I give them 2 [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

Yup, Chris at CA cycleworks is great like that. That's why I get as many goodies as I can afford from him. Too bad I can't afford that many. ::)

if you have given chris the correct model information i would be confident he has given you the correct belts, doesn't hurt to check though. i use genuine belts and haven't heard of that before.
