I attached my heat shield with the one upper right screw and some industrial 3M tape along the trailing edge. Let it sit overnight. It's stable. I was amazed at the almost absurd directions for attaching this thing. Some over wrought engineer came up with the kit. A couple of screw points would suffice.
I totally agree that this was overkill on the attachment points and if I'm being completely honest, I didn't even bother with the strip that closes that wee thin gap at the tank. I filled it with some foam I had lying around and after a test ride it felt like too much heat was staying under the seat so I removed it so some hot air could "leak" out and it's staying that way for me.

I only have 2 attachment points, the 1 at the top that goes into the under-seat panel corner hole and 1 from the side (can't recall if it was the left or the right now but whichever one was easiest and also used a bolt). It's all you need.

I tried removing the side panel on the tank but wasn't having any luck and didn't have time to search for instructions ... didn't even bother drilling holes with the template, etc and it's doing the job it was intended for and isn't going anywhere.

I then added the Cool Covers UK seat cover and it wasn't once uncomfortable yesterday and in fact for the first time I noticed a bit of heat on the left side.

He had them on hand so it took about a week. Sometimes it takes longer. Not that different from ordering anything from Europe really.

The install is involved so if you want them I'd place and order and set them aside for your next airfilter or valve service. Or winter tinkering. You just dm him on facebook.

Full disclosure, I talk to him fairly often because he has business in Houston and we both have been playing with Ducati tuning for way too long so he may not be as responsive to everyone.

I'm unclear as to your second bolt attachment, where is that?. A photo would be most excellent. Thank you.

I'd have to take a look at my bike but it'd be 1 of these 2 holes where the red arrows are pointing ... probably #22??

The one bolt I replaced was the one at #22 in the lower photo. Tightened to 10Nm as specified. But although I found the hole in the heat guard towards the back, there's nothing for a bolt to go through it and to be screwed into. There are just the wires noted in the instructions.

Yep those are the only 2 mounting points I used (#22 and the 1 at the top under the seat) and like I said above, it's not going anywhere.

Used the template and anchored the top screw. Really solid now.
Weird how my 2023 already had the hole in the top plate so no need for the template and drilling a new hole.

At some point the kit will probably become a production line change. If you look at the new Panigale and Streetfighter release video they go to some length to detail the design choices they made to enhance rider comfort. Mostly sealing the sides and venting heat through the center instead of having it roll up over the rider.

About time too Ducati started addressing their heat issue.

I thought I'd chime in and say that I think I've finally found my solution to the excessive heat and the final piece was a Cool Covers UK seat cover ... I could literally feel the cool air under my butt when I went out yesterday morning. Between that and the thermal heat kit, I'm now keeping the bike.

Hi, just registered to ask this question – how did you fit the Cool Cover? Mine arrived today and no matter what I do, I can't close the seat. The lock pin doesn't go into the latch due to the Cool Cover's thickness.

Did you trim anything or how did you get yours on?

Hi ... you're not wrong and it is a concern. I ended up having to take the plate off that the seat "post" goes into and widening the hole a bit. Be careful you get the correct side of the hole to file as I ended up messing it up and ended up having to buy a whole new plate to be re-file down. It's good now for me.

Let us know if you find another solution ... can't recall now but I wonder if there's a way to make the seat post a little longer so it clicks in? Maybe see if it can be removed with some washers added at the base? I think I looked for that but couldn't see a way.

Good luck.

Okay, thanks for the quick reply.

I’ll probably disassemble the metal part, which is bolted onto the subframe and holds the lock. Then I’ll remove the lock, drill 2 new holes, and position the lock a bit further towards the cylinder head/tank. This should give more clearance for the pin to go into the lock.

I’ll post some pictures here afterwards.

Yes, you have the idea. (y)

I get to join this category in the forums now. Just brought home this 22 Monster to add to my other three bikes.

It already has the termi slip ons, tail kit, upgraded turn signals, and Rizoma bar end mirrors. Next up will me a Mivv mid pipe, and rexxer tuner. I have no idea if it has a air filter on it yet
