Modding stock M900 headers... Ever try heat to bend?

I've got a 99 M900 that has a set of Termi high pipes on it and have been thinking about trying to bend the original header just slightly to get the cans up a little closer to the frame. The way they are now I can get them tucked up pretty close to the frame (about 2-3 inch gap), but I'd like to get the m up another inch or so. I was thinking that I could try heating the portion of the header that ends right by the swingarm on each side and then using the S-bend high pipe to bend the header up into the place I'd like it to be. Raising the cans an inch seems like it might be doable since it would only require a slight bend at the end of the header. I'm just wondering if anyone had tried this before and what the results were. I believe the factory headers are stainless and I've tried strecthing stainless before using heat and some force without very good results. Seems to split more than bend.

Any help?

You're right - They are SS and if you heat it enough to bend it the carbon molecules and probably some of the other alloys start to migrate to the surface ruining the steel. Best bet would be to find someone who can fabricate SS tubing/exhausts and have them cut and TIG weld the headers at the new angle.
