Increasing seat height

Hi there, I am new to this forum.

I would like to hear if any of you have experience with increasing the seat height on previous S2R monsters ?

The reason for this question is that I am almost 190cm high and some years ago I had a 900 monster, witch was a little low for me. Now I am considering getting a monster again, but this time I plan to modify it to fit my height. I would like to have 800mm + seat height and if it is possible also a longer distance between seat and footpegs.

Thanks

Lasse Nielsen, Denmark.

I went with an aftermarket Sargent seat and it increased my seat height to about the level you're looking for. Get an model with the adjustable ride height and you can probably make up the difference

Hallo Lasse,

I too am around 190cm tall. Do you mean older monsters, (like 93-2001)? If so, you can raise the rearend w/ the suspension hoop.

I can't speak for the S2r monsters specifically. But to aid in adding comfort on my 98 M900, I added Cyclecat adjustable clip-ons, and some adjustable Sato rearsets. Obviously, neither of these changed seat height, but changed the seating position enough that I don't feel like I am riding someone else's bike.

Something else I did, which did raise the seat height a bit, was to take my stock seat to a local auto upholstery shop. I had them add foam to raise the height and put a new custom cover onto the seat. I don't think it raised it much, but it's noticeable...definitely a more comfortable height.

However, without adjustable rearsets and the ability to kick you legs back a bit, the raised seat raises the seating position and makes fitting your legs under the tank slightly more difficult.

I'll measure when I get home and see how close it is to 800mm.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

I am considering purchasing an old M900 and rebuild it with the 1000ds engine, s2r swinger, aftermarket suspension and loads of CF.

During the rebuild I will try to improve the comfort, due to my height.

Has anybody tried to fit a s2r swinger in and old monsterframe?? there should be some suspension issues as the link connection is different.

Anybody know how much a s2r swinger weighs compared to the traditional steel monster swinger ?

i have a '99 m900 -- which i wouldn't trade for the world -- and i went with the sargent seat, cycle cat clip-ons, rizoma rearsets solution. plus i bumped up the hoops to max.

bump for the taller riders!
