The rubber from my boots has baked on my exhaust pipes. Tried WD40 and turpentine with no success. Anyone know how to remove the rubber from the exhaust pipes?

Okay, this is what works for me, done it many times. While the pipes are very warm, I use a rag soaked in brake cleaner and rub with force-being careful not to breath the fumes or leaving the rag on the pipes too long as the heat will transfer to your hand [gloves help too]. Then after it cools, a good metal polish follows and WALA! clean pipes.

I actually tried the Tarminator and didn't do anything. What I found did work though was Turtle Wax Polishing Compound. I wish I had some of the Rubbing Compound though to take most of the rubber off first but didn't have any, so I used a window scraper blade and that worked great for taking most of the rubber off then finished off with the polishing compound.

umm, isn't brake cleaner flammable?

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, just came back from a five day bike ride up the west coast, AWSOME time. Anyway, yes brake cleaner is flammable to an ignitable source [flame], but the pipes when very warm will not reach the "flash" point [point of ignition from heat alone] of the cleaner. This is what works for me, I also heard that a friend of mine uses "Goo Gone"

Simple Green on the pipe works well for me. Warm em' up and let it sit for a minute or two before wiping. Whamo no more burned Doc Marten's.
