I have a bunch of keys I always have to carry around. The key for my Monster being one of them. Ideally, I would like all the keys on 1 keychain, but that is causing the keys to hit the tank creating microscopic scratches on the paint. Do any of you have a solution for this?

Yeah, stop using your microscope to inspect your tank!

Seriously, I had the same problem... now I just use one of those quick release clips for the ducati key... when I need it, just pop it off... don't want to scratch that tank!

Why does everything have to be carbon? Doesn't anyone make a magnetic one?

Maybe I can go get some of that 3M clear plastic stuff that they are putting on the front of cars.

I always noticed when shopping for used bikes when the owners keys scratched up the triple or tank..makes it seem like they didnt pay alot attention to taking care of the bike

I made up a keychain for when i ride the bike with house key, and bike lock keys, and huck that in a bag or pocket on my way out.
the duc key i keep on a seperate keychain. it also helps to have a big noticeable keychain so you can tell if you left your key in the ignition.
i have this one :)

I use a quick-release key chain.. monster key on one end, the rest on the other end... this way there's only the monster key and a small part of the keychain on the bike when riding.

I tought about using some sort of 'key guard' but sometimes my keys would get stuck in that little space between the gas tank and the key assembly if they were just hanging there before I got this new key chain (geeez was that one long sentence or what?!!). I just didn't like having to undo the tangled key puzzle after every ride...!

I picked up the keychain at REI for about $5

Well, I did a little searching and it looks like you can get small rolls of the stuff at an auto parts store. As a bonus though, I found a place that would send out a free door edge guard kit. So I'll have to see how wide it is when it gets here and if I can use it. Otherwise I'll have to spring for a whole roll.

Also, my key is by itself on a little rubber key fob of a 916. It's one of the ones they give you when you buy a bike at O'side Duc-Aprilia. I just tuck the fob into the gap between the tank and the ignition so nothing flops around.

I have my key attached to a little rubber baby looking thing. You can fill him with water, and when you squeeze his head water comes out of his little wewee. Great for annoying CAGERS!

:D I'm a single key guy too. Use my Vanson jacket leather key fob that came with it. Simple. Basic. No frills. No scratches.

Keep my other keys on a separate ring with a carabiner clip.

Works for me. My 8 cents worth... (inflation, of my EGO!) ;D

I guess I'm a one key only also. My logic is from several older bikes I have owned have had worn out switches from too many keys or big fobs. The vibration and wind on a bike puts a lot of stress on your switch. Gosh I'm anal..

I use the single key method......all other keys( house, disc lock, garage, work ) are on a seperate key chain that goes in my pocket.
