Ok, so I finally chopped my tail. It took so long because I just didn't like the way most tail chops 1: left the tail light hanging out and 2: left the frame "unresolved". So here's what I came up with:

I also fabricated the "tabs" for the turn signals long enough to cover up a hole under the seat. Don't know if I'll leave it silver or paint it back - for now I like admiring my handywork! ;)

The steel bar was attached using bar end weight screws and rubber bushings. I went with steel because of workability and paintability. It's still lighter than the bit I wacked off - not that this mod was to save weight anyway. I matched the dark frame color by using 2 paints: a satin black base with a light mist of charcol grey metalic - real close match.

;D

very sweet looking. Probably one of the best i've seen yet. Personally I still like my duck tail so i'm not brave enough to go hacking.

Very nice tail chop. Definately go with the black paint on the turn signal tabs. That will highlight your turn signals and add that finishing touch. ;)

Thanks guys. MikeD5172 - I think your right, definetly go with black on the tabs.

So, besides putting the Sils back on and fixing the BIG dent in the tank I think I'm done with the mods . . . ::)

Very nice tail chop. I like what you did. I've gotta my two cents & say "paint it black" as well.
