·Ok, so I finally chopped my tail. It took so long because I just didn't like the way most tail chops 1: left the tail light hanging out and 2: left the frame "unresolved". So here's what I came up with:
I also fabricated the "tabs" for the turn signals long enough to cover up a hole under the seat. Don't know if I'll leave it silver or paint it back - for now I like admiring my handywork!
The steel bar was attached using bar end weight screws and rubber bushings. I went with steel because of workability and paintability. It's still lighter than the bit I wacked off - not that this mod was to save weight anyway. I matched the dark frame color by using 2 paints: a satin black base with a light mist of charcol grey metalic - real close match.
