my first bike is a 2004 800ie. with 5200miles. it is a salvage title and i got no history for it.i think it was stolen or layed down not crashed. it runs but misfires so im going to run compression tests and shim the valves if need be. i have a couple questions. can i order the biggest shims available and sand them to fit and not buy the whole kit for$300? does any one know where to order a couple shims for cheap? what other checks should be made on my bike? also the steering lock only works in park with the lights on,can this be fixed inexpensively and dose this indicate it was broke and stolen?
