What kind of oil should be used for a Mdark750 Y2K?
My oil level was pretty low, I added Mobile 5w30 oil.
It seems to run fine so far. if it's not the right oil should I change my oil or is it fine?

how much did you put in? does the clutch slip?

as usual, the owner's manual creates an a debate situation. my owner's manual reccomends 10w40. a sticker on my bike says 20w50. i use 15w50 since i use the bike year round. the 5w30 is probably energy conservingII, which could cause clutch slipping. if i didn't put alot in and my clutch isn't slipping i wouldn't be overly concerned. slipping clutch, i would change it asap.

5w-30w has additives in it to make energy conserving. basicly makes slipperier. good for cars, not so good for motorcycles with wet clutches. if you want to run mobile 1, try 15w-50w. i don't think its energy conserving. look on the back of the bottle there is a circle theat with the ratings stamped around it, and inside it will say if it is energy conserving, if not it wont say anything.

clutch slip is when the cluth is engaged (lever released) and you apply the throttle the engine accellerates and the bike accellerates at a slower rate or not at all. in other words, a bad connection between the engine and transmission. this would most likely happen on an upgrade from a low engine speed in a high gear.

gotta good idea. change the oil and filter asap and no need to worry. an xtra oil change can't hurt anything except your wallet

You want an oil with a G rating, not H or J. You can cause excess wear on your gear faces using the energy conserving H or J grades in the lighter weights. I don't think 20W50 comes in energy conserving grades.

I always put in 20W50, usually in a semisynthetic blend.

I think i'd better get an oil change and see a mecanic about the clutch split cuz since i put slip-ons, it doesnt accelrate well at all. while i am at it i'll have'em install a jet kit
thx guys :)
