I'm in the process of installing new sil high pipes. I was wondering if, over time and due to vibration, the hangers that craddle the pipe will scratch up the carbon fiber. I thought that I have seen the hangers in the past that have a rubber liner/strap with them that cusions the hanger from the carbon fiber. (I thought something would be included with the pipes)

Should I worry about it, or install them as is?

I have seen people take pieces of rubber tubing or hose and place a section around the spring to keep this from happening. Might be worth the $1.00 you would spend:D

I've seen at least one manufacturer that uses a rubber pad, but I don't remember who. I always just tighten the metal band on the can & haven't had any problems, just be sure you don't tighten the clamp with a breaker bar!!

my Marvings ahve rubber around the strap, but even with that...the strap has moved a bit and caused a discoloration/scratch/rubbed look to the area it migrated from.
