I want to buy a carbon fiber seat cover and have a great deal on one that was fitted on a 1999 monster, I am wondering if ti will fit my 2001 chromo...
and if not, how hard is it to modify it to fit...

Regardless of year, some cowls don't exactly match the length of the particular seats and won't cover all of it. You can either ignore the gap or make your own brackets.

Yeah, it will fit, but it will leave a funky gap where the seat meets the tank...you'll be able to see the indentation on the tank. I've got an older seat on my Monster...it does seem lower, too.
