You would think that Ducati would want to sell things like mugs, model bikes, etc. None of the dealers in CT can even get them although they will tell you that they are on order.

Ducati has sold more Monsters than any other bike.

Riders love to get things like that. I would love a Monster model and a Ducati mug. Good advertizing for Ducati too. A built in market. I don't get it.

Is it easier in other parts of the country or is America just a provinical market for Ducarti?

Re: Why is it so hard for dealersto get Ducati acc

I'm with you.. I collect little things like that.. not as a 'collector' but more as a "Hey! That's Cool.." guy.

(soonafter followed by the sound of the cash register...)

Based on their latest Dec. Quarter results, Ducati sold 4,618 motorcycle units in North America (incl. Canada) out of 38,417 sold worldwide in the 12 months ending Dec 31, 2003.

That's about 12% of their inventory shipped...

I don't see it broken down by $ and profit margin per region, so I can't say if North America is more or less profitable than other parts of the world..

The pdf doc I got the info from:

Your dealer is blowing smoke up your rear. There is an entire shelf of it at KCI.

To answer your question, I think part of the reason is because the Ducati brand is not a major part of most dealers main business.. In our case and dealers like BCM and some others, Ducati is what we live by and our businesses survive by. Take a look at our site, we have huge quantities of all those kind of goodies.
