I bought the Pro Italia kit for my S4Rs. The instructions were wretched, no pictures or diagrams. I couldn't figure out what do with the bag of screws and washers in the kit so I just put it together with the OEM leftovers. The plate was drilled 1/4 off which made it an uneven fit between the frame ends. It about an hour from start to finish without power tools and looks like the photos. I wouldn't buy the kit again, it would be easier to get the materials from lowe's.
Pro Italia does NOT make the best quality tail chop kit. Don't buy from there. I wish I had not bought it. High dollar piece if crud that won't fit. It took some serious finess to make it work. I had to. I paid to have it powdercoated before I put it up to the bike and discovered the I would have returned it...Too late.
DON'T BUY PRO ITALIA, DON'T BUY PRO ITALIA, DON'T BUY PRO ITALIA, DON'T BUY PRO ITALIA!!!!
I agree w/monsterrod. I bought the integrated turn signal from Clear Alternatives and cut my frame with a couple pieces of making tape to keep the cut straight and a 32 teeth per inch hacksaw blade. It is perfect, I highly recommend Clear Alternatives, I have no affiliation with them, just a satisfied customer (very satisfied)
It like to edit my post, there is no such thing as making tape; however, I hear that masking tape works very well, and while I'm at it, does anybody have a 5.5 rear wheel with an axel size that will fit an 03 800Sie?
Just installed the Cookie1 kit last night. Took me longer to figure out how to rewire my LED taillight board than to do the chop. Instuctions with the chop were fantastic with detailed step by steps and a whole page of pictures. Theres some things in life that you dont just pay for the parts (which some may deem not worth half the price paid) but the actual service behind the parts. In this case, the Cookie1 kit went beyond my expectations and I feel completely satisfied that the price was justified.
i have a ? for you all knowing members.....my local shop told me when i asked for a tail chop that it will dramatically decrease the value....whats the truth to this matter
Yes and No, If you trade it in YES, if you sell it yourself (which you should anyway) you may raise the "resale" value a little. At any rate, if you do mod the bike you'll more than likely make it more appealing to the buyer, usually some young'n looking for a trick bike, but knows quality.
I have more to add, but I don't want ramble. In short, do the tail-chop, if you cut it neat you can reweld later. The tail should cover the welds......................I think.
If you look at your bike in terms of mods in the way of resale value, then you arent really enjoying your bike. You might as well keep it with 10 miles on it and rest it in the garage and stare at it. You bought it to ride and enjoy, do everything to it that makes you feel giddy inside. Why think about the times when you are selling it instead of the times you are riding it.
aaahhhh!!! you guys are cutting the frame holy crap.
DP performance makes a carbon fiber piece that fits and looks very cool with the addition of their smaller tail lights and it comes with frame plugs
Looks totaly stock!! and custom. Plus if you have stacked termis the don't stick way out past lic plate.
Spent the extra cash and bought the 1tail(competition werks) tail chop kit. I think it looks great and it only took me an hour to install. [thumbsup] Thought about a turnsignal intigrator kit but I kinda like the looks of the stock signals. If I buy aftermarket , I;ll buy the yoyodine's.
