So i have already talked myself into buying a monster, but the last problem i have with getting one is insurance. I got a quote from progressive who i use for my cars, and due to my age (21) and less than spotless driving record, my quote for a M620 was 200 per term for liability and 2000 for full coverage.
My question is- who has good rates? I live in Va so i would need a company offers policies to Va residents.

first off Kenny, do you think you should be riding with a name like that? Kind of a death wish if you ask me...
Shop around, check in with the mid atlantic club. Maybe one of those good people could help you out with a better insurance company.

Really depends where you are. I am with Progressive and get a fair rate, although it jumped pretty good this year even with no claims or special driving awards. They gave me the song and dance that it's an across the board rate hike because of all those other hooligans. Whatever. Get married, buy a house, and turn 25 and you too will get better rates. ::)

I have Progressive and McGraw... But, I have decided to switch to a little device called "The Traffic Cop" it is a little hammer that I am going to make a holder for on the Monster and when I am lanesplitting if a jerk decides to move over and hit me I can just take out his rearview mirror.

Problem Solved :)

state minimum liability only-230 per year
state min liability plus comp with 1k deductible-1003 per year

is this good or should i keep shopping?..............or maybe wait til my driving record improves?

I pay about $150 a month with Progressive for:
2001 S4 (full)
1999 Laverda 750S (full)
1991 907 (liability)

My record is not spotless, but I am married and 36.

Do you have a motorcycle license? Take a driver saftey course, and pay cash for you bike so you don't need full coverage. You never said how bad you record is.

I use progressive also and am paying $420 a year (12months) full coverage on my S4 (I still think they screwed up but I aint sayin nothing).
Also on the plan are:
2001 Yamah FZ1 - full coverage
1977 Yamaha RD400 - liability
2002 Yamaha Raptor - liability & theft
2001 Yamaha Big Bear - Liability & theft
2003 Polaris Predator - Liability & theft
2002 Polaris Scrambler - Liability & theft
They give me a pretty good rate for all the family toys.
