I have never owned a motorcycle and I love the looks of the Monster. Yes, I read the FAQ!

I am a bigger guy... 6'3 215lbs. I race bicycles (I know, huge difference) but I've got the two wheeled balance thing down pretty good. 50mph on a bicycle can test your skill!!

Anyways, I'm not looking to race jap rockets (too old for that, I'm 32) and live in Chicago so I'm looking for something daily rider friendly in an urban setting, yet gives me a chance to unwind if the need hits.

Thanks so much!

Re: Which one??

send a message to Tdaddy. he lives in your neck of the woods. I am sure he could give you good input regarding shops and what not.
For your size, I would go bigger. But that also depends on your check book. I am 5'9 210# and ride a 620 and have no issues with weight. All the girlies say I am pretty fast for a fat guy. 8)

Re: Which one??

well Ally the problem is that I am not the typical "white" caucasian. I have darker skin due to my Sicilian ancestry. The French side of the fam is kinda dark too. So I cant be pretty fly for a white guy. I am pretty dark for a white guy, but I like poking fun at my Poppin-Fresh belly. go on, touch it. I will giggle just like poppin fresh does. he he he.

Re: Which one??

well, it looks like I will have some spare time on my hands early next year! A trip out west would be swell. I will get the show details worked out, and with my severance money, I can pay for tickets/bail! I kinda feel bad though. We are stealing new guys thunder here with our fantasy world. Birch, I dont know you, but anyone that spells dude the way you do has to be ok in my book. You are on the show too.

Woooot!!!

Sweet.

Hmmm... thinking if I take the longish way back to the city, a stop in Lake Villa to drewl a bit isn't a bad way to kill time while the traffic dies down a bit!

Re: Which one??

I too have a height issue with the monster. I'm only 6'1", but there doesn't seem to be a lot of leg room. As much as I love the looks of the monster I am looking seriously at the Multistrada. I know, I know it doesn't have the sexy look of the Monster, but it looks pretty cool in it's own right. Plus, it is considerably roomier for a taller person, and the reviews seem to be really good. Not to mention, it's all the latest technology that Ducati is offering in a air cooled V2 bike. (other than the M1000)

My bro is 6'3", 225ish. He can ride a Monster fine, but feels a little confined (but he always rides bikes with clip-ons, so I don't know if the stock bars would feel roomier).

He rides an older style 900 SS/SP, which seems to fit him fine. For urban riding, a set of clip-ons with taller risers than stock would probably improve the ride. The newer style SS has similar ergos, but the tank design is less kind on those of us with "poppin' fresh" bellys.

I'm getting more and more time on a friend's Multistrada (I'm riding it today, in fact), and the more I ride it, the more I like it. I'm 5'11", 200# and after being on my Monster, or even my 888, it feels downright expansive. Lots of room to move around, but the bike doesn't feel big or heavy at all. The 1000 DS engine kicks butt on all but heavily breathed upon 900 2v`ers.

Re: Which one??

I'm 6'1" and 215 or so. I have no probs on my Monster. Maybe I'm pretty limber for an old guy, or maybe I'm a masochist. Seriously, the only problem I have is the seat after about 2 hours... or I guess the problem I have is my seat. :D

Re: Which one??

At 6'0" and 170#, i feel a little cramped on my monster. Not from too many jellyrolls, though. CycleCat clip ons helped alot, as I'm sure will their rear sets when I have extra cash. The seat sucks! after an hour may ass is burnin! Awsome bike though. loves wheelies!
