Things have been kinda slow lately so I wanted to start a topic to get people chatting more. Now none of us have a time machine- so you cant name someone that is dead ok? Tell us who it would be, and why..
I have actually been thinking of this for a few days and cant come up with a concrete answer for myself. I suppose I would like to met dubya and figure out how he thinks. Better yet what about Bill Clinton? I bet dinner and drinks with him would be interesting.. probably end up hitting a nudie bar.

Leonard Cohen. His poetry and music tap into something very human but unspoken by most. He says what he feels without censoring, and probably needed his monasticism to be able to get beyond "Bird on a Wire."

Or Helmut Newton. Same thing. The ability to put his very personal self into the spotlight through his work. And his having survived just that.

Or maybe that cute waitress down at the locals only cafe, 'cause I know with a couple glasses of wine she'll see how artistic and deep I really am and put out.

Hmmnnn... Leonard Cohen is a good one, Maybe Tom Waits, too (I did actually talk to waits for about 30 seconds at a coffee shop in Santa Rosa once.)

Outside of the music business, I think maybe Frank Gehry, would make interesting dinner conversation.

Janeane Garofalo would probably be fun at dinner, and I bet she can down a pint or two.

Up until a month or so ago, Johnny Cash would have been my instant answer.

Being a realist; I'm not much into fantasy. However, I'll bite and take the bait.

I would love to have a beer with Ray Manzarek form the Doors.

Who said Bill Clinton? Waste a fantasy on that! C'mon...

Funny thing about Clinton, while having dinner in SF he came in to the same resturaunt (with about 50 agents). He came to our table and talked to us for about 10-15min. Gotta say the guy was super nice and quite open, very wierd experience.

I would like to hang out with Homer Simpson. I think it would be a blast getting drunk with him.

Let's see- Stevie Nicks, Melanie Griffith, Meg Ryan. If my wife's asking- Oliver North.

At least your wife would be relieved to hear that you're not going for the young ones ;D

Stevie Nicks ???

I'll dine with Lyle Lovett -- makes great music, writes very entertaining lyrics, and knows more than a little about Italian bikes.

I'd have to say Sade. She's the woman with the most mystique and her beauty is natural and rare.
Re: which famous person would you have dinner with

You guys crack me up.

If he wasn't dead I'd say Richard Feynman. Among the living the person that comes to mind is Molly Ivins (reading her book) - she is incredibly funny in a Texas sort of way, and has a lot of wise things to say.
Re: which famous person would you have dinner with

Clint Eastwood, Fred Dryer, Larry Hagman
