I need to find the engine VIN on my bike to get it registered. I tried looking all over the place and I'm not seeing it. Do I need to pop the tank or crawl under it? Stupid state rules, I know the numbers on the engine don't match since it has a newer engine in it. TIA,

Try the left side of the engine on the oil sump area, just below the Alternator cover.

Left hand side of the motor, just below the alternator cover, stamped in the main center cases. May be obscured by the clutch switch wire...

The numbers on my S4 don't match, and it's definitely got the same engine it was born with.

Found it! Thanks for the quick response guys. The number was hiding under a layer of grime and oil which is why I couldn't find it earlier. I guess I really need to detail clean the bike soon. Thanks again.
