Well I'm still alive, and Maya and I are still none the worse for wear! [cheeky]
Saturday evening I met the stunningly beautiful Nina/"Grio" and her great new beau Troy/"The ZedMan" at a quaint little Bar & Grill called "The Streets of London". [thumbsup] Where we enjoyed some Proper fish and chips, and hoisted a pint. Both Grio and Zed were very warm and delightfully Zany. (A truly wonderful couple.
) We shared a few laughs, along with the tales of bike adventures both past, and those envisioned dream rides for the future. [thumbsup]
Sunday I met my guides at a small "Starbucks" just off of US 50. Where after properly soliciting another new S2R owner to the fold, topped off our tanks for what would be an absolutely glorious ride. [clap]
As we proceeded up "Salmon Falls Road" & the 193 to Georgetown it became abundantly clear how intimately familiar both Grio and Zed were with this route. Extremely technical and twisty, blind off camber, decreasing radius corners that were incredibly narrow. 0 runoff, and no room for error.
I kept thinking to my self what an amazing road this was. Challenging and exhilarating at the same time. I wish that our pace had been just a bit slower so that I could have stopped and properly photo documented these incredible curves. Alas this was not possible as this route requires total attention at all times. :'(
My impression was something like this: [looking around] "Wow what a great shot that would make." Quickly interrupted by, "Oh nuts! Blind off camber corner approaching extreemely rapidly off the port bow!"
[/looking around]
A quick two gear drop and throw out the anchors. Crank her over, and wait........wait........wait......."Uh this tarmac sure looks wet."........wait........wait.......wait.............AH the exit! Back on the juice as we roll up onto the meat of the tread. ;D "Uh Captain, the rear is loose, REPEAT OUR REAR IS LOOSE!"
............maintain throttle steer into the slide and wait.....wait.....wait......."RIGHTIOUSE....HOOKUP!" >
[thumbsup]
OK now where the hell are Grio and Zed? [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
To my relief they were only about two seconds ahead and I would regain their company on the straights and anytime a car was encountered.
I kept my pace just slow enough to allow a line change for any unseen hazards, or brain dead moments on my part.
Grio and Zed being the conscientious guides slowed slightly to allow us to regain sight of each other on the short straights as I would expect any one takeing a rider down this stretch of road for the first time to do. [thumbsup] [clap] [clap] [clap]
Repeating this for another 20 or 30 of the same type of corners, and we finally arrive safe and sound in Geogetown for Lunch.
As we are waiting for our lunch, Troy divulges to me over his ever widening grin: " Oh, I forgot to mention to you just how tight and nasty some of those corners are back there. A large number of riders have lost their lives on that stretch. I'm glad you can ride, and were taking it at your own pace." I sure can see why [I said, while nodding in agreement] a slight miscalculation there could get real messy in a big hurry,
but d**n that road ROCKS!!! >
[Smiles and laughter all around] [clap] [clap]
After a very nice lunch, and some great old tunes from the Juke Box courtesy of Grio.
We enlist the help of a local to take our commemorative shot of our little trio of trouble makers. [laugh]
Mounting back up it was a banzai run down CA 49 towards Placerville. The roads here were predominately dry with a good line of sight. Mixed high speed sweepers of 45 to 90 degrees made for some of the fastest and closely grouped riding of the day! [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
The Zoom of Zed's big ZX1200 I-4 along with the throbbing growl of Molita, and Maya's L-Twin Desmos was absolutely addictive, and supremely satisfying!!! >

A short stop at the Infamous "Poor Reds". Where Nina and Troy introduced me to the house specialty "The Gold Cadillac". These are a wonderful drink and I could have enjoyed many more of the same but since we were riding after all we limited our consumption to one each. [thumbsup]
A quick rip down US 50, and we parted company just shy of I-80.
If you are ever in the Sacramento area and really want to take in a fast and challenging ride, you owe it to your self to look up Nina & Troy. [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
Two extremely talented riders, who live and breathe this great sport of ours, [thumbsup] [clap] [clap] [clap] and are an absolute riot to hang around with. [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
Thanx guys for showing me around your favorite bits here in Sacramento. I loved every minute of it, and look forward to getting together again for more rides in the future. [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
*Special Note: Troy gets the Award for the most Hard Core enthusiast, as he attended and rode his ass off despite having cracked multiple ribs a few days earlier.
