Valve clearance prep and tune up

I may get a chance to do my valves hands on with someone but will need to drive 80 miles to their place. I understand that ideally the bike should cool off overnight before measuring clearances, but a few hours at most is more realistic in my situation.

Is this still feasible under these conditions?

WRT throttle synchronization following valve adjustment, just how critical is a session with an EGA at the dealer? Will the bike be still safely rideable on the way back, in case I have the dealer take it in the day after for tuning?
