Anyone Heard of a Turbo'd Monster?

Was wondering if there was an aftermarket Kit available?

I remember seeing a 750 Monster in a magazine with a Supercharger on it, but what about a Turbo?

There was a guy in Australia (in Streetbike Magazine) who turbocharged a 750 Monster. It ended up with similar power to a 900 but I guess he enjoyed the challenge. I wonder how a 900 would go?

The Daniele Mot site claims 104 HP at the rear wheel with their 900, so it'd go about like an S4. Twins are tough to turbo effectively with the big delays between exhaust pulses.

I have a '96 M900 with a PCS turbo charger kit. I got it from an original owner who had a trouble with it. It took over a year of reworking the system to get it functional. Race carb's, a custom steel airbox and a lot of redoing plumbing and the bike runs great now. I get 112+ Hp @ 8,300 rpm, about a 28% increase over stock. The small steel airbox eliminated all most all the turbo-lag the PCS system had.8)

I've been collecting information on turbocharged (supercharger, nitrous charged) ducati's motorcycles on my web site http://www.TurboMonster.com/

PCS Daytona only made 18 of the kits. I've never seen any other then the one I have. I currently don't know of any turbo kits for Ducati available from anyone. If you want to create your own, I'd start with "RB Racing" for parts: http://www.RBracing-rsr.com/
or contacting Tom Hull at "Tom's Italian Tune And Service" in Mesa Arizona. Tom is a master of turbo systems and Ducati's: http://www.TomsItalianTuneAndService.com/

FYI - Basic Terms:
Forced Air Systems
*Turbochargers - Forced air system that using turbines in the intake and exhaust to force compress air in to the engine to increase horsepower.
*Supercharger (Blower) - Forced air system that using a mechanical air compression unit normally connected to the crank shaft to force compress air in to the engine to increase horsepower.
Oxygenated Gas Systems
*Nitrous (Nos) - Compressed oxygenated gas (stored is a cylinder) which is released on command into the engine ports to the engine to increase horsepower.

Hey turbo Monster,
Thanks for the info. You got me goin again. Will check out your web site & the other links you threw in.

Any chance of some close up pics showing the plumbing on your bike, the airbox & the mounting of the unit?

Do you have an adjustable waste gate? What PSI are you running to get 112hp.

Too many questions, sorry i'm getting excited. Probably all on your web site.

Will check it out & get back to you.

Yes, I do have a wastegate system. I have the turbo limited to 7 psi (it's capable of 28 psi). At 7# I can run wide open for about 30 seconds before I have to worry heat damage. Turbo compressed (super heated) air WILL melt the pistons and values as well as damage the Carburetor/EFI, mufflers and spark plugs in minutes!

IHI is the best turbo I found for bikes. There small and have integrated wastegates. Remember "the smaller the turbo, the fast it will spin open". Less lag, when you drag!

I add more information to my web site weekly. I'll see about putting together some detail plumbing plans.

Have fun, but be careful. :)

What magazine/issue had the supercharged monster in it?

I pulled together some information for you on turbocharging a Ducati, including plumbing. I also started making documenting my bikes setup, with pictures. http://www.turbomonster.com/pdf/TurboOverview.pdf

I'm using a IHI-Turbo with a intregated wastegate (set at 7-11# max.)

Let me know what other information you would like to see. :)
