It's that time again to start buying crap for our loved ones. Full reviews to follow once these are wrapped, unwrapped, and tested.

Are all the women in your life getting monsters? I see a micromonster!

The boots are bombshell from Icon. They were bought specifically as fashionable passenger gear and not for Gwendy when she rides her own bike (more news on that to follow later... anyone who knows don't spoil the surprise).

They are better than I had expected, with extra leather around the ankles, including a small thick leather flap across the ankle bone where the zipper is on the inside.

Full zippers on inside of each boot. The buckles on the outside do not adjust the calf width and are just for looks.

Toe and heel are very stiff but not truly armored.

Inside of each boot near bottom and on heel side is more felt-like and outside is shiny leather. This non-scuff wraps slightly up over for shifter spot too. Nicely done.

Overall I think they're as good as strong hiking boots and have the advantage that they are higher and can easily have leathers tucked in. They're no Sidis, but they're not meant to be.

We ordered online and got the size right, but for those guys who were just told to get these there's a shop near my place that has a bunch of sizes in stock. Price is $170

Never said cheap. Certainly not a function/cost item. But when she really wants them it's a bargain. Think of them as a second or third pair of boots.

Damn, awesome boots. I'd wear them to work, not to ride.

I love the silver heel protectors.
Not a surprise for her. She's in on it. It's rather a surprise of which local bike might be switching hands.

But yes, she did say her bike could be borrowed so we can go out riding.

Yours was too nice and is gone anyway. More info to follow next week sometime. Tomorrow is day three of Gwendy's MSF course and first day on the bikes. Everyone keep their fingers crossed (she'll do great regardless).
