First time I ride a bike on Pirellis, and noticed the lines are more slippery then ever....
Pls tell me which pirellis ? Any suggestion for me to change which type of tires. My country mostly asphalt with 70:30 dry and wet. I dont mind about the cost, i really want better grip in this two condition.

The stock ones Diablo ROsso II. I replaced the rear with an Angel ST, but since its winter here I havent had a chance to try it. I love the Rosso in most situations, great grip and handling including in the wet, but I've never been so nervous going over painted lines (even more so when wet). I've even had both front and rear slip on lines and I was just turning at maybe 50km/h...the complete bike shifted sideways by a few inches...

I'd say you're probably better off with Michelin Pilot Road 2 or Pilot Road 3 or if you can wait the PR4 are about to be made available. They are all amazing tires in the wet, and grip wet or dry, hot or cold...and last forever. And I've tried quite a few brands and models, Bridgestones, Continentals, Michelins, Pirellis, (price is not a criteria for me when it comes to tires) and I always come back to the Pilot Roads cause they do what others do, better, and often last twice as much...so you get the best grip in it's category, yet don't have to sacrifice on longevity. These bikes are high maintenance enough without having to change tires every 4000km...

It means you should keep off them white lines or you could kill yourself, they are very slippery especially when wet.
Just hard to avoid when turning on lines like these:


Really the Diablo Rosso are the worse tires I've ever experienced on painted lines, they're scary, a feeling I never felt with the Michelins (though you still obviously have to ride based on conditions).

I will agree about the Rosso 2's and painted lines. I felt my front tire slip a bit when passing through a set of twisties, it startled me a bit.

They do seem to go about 5k and they mostly work well. I have never gotten more than 5k from any tire I have owned.

I got 5000 km or 3000 miles out of the rear tire and was down to the wires in the middle. With the PR2s I would get about 8000km on my FZ8 and 12000km on my MT-01 (though at 12000km the middle was flat and handling starting to suffer quite a bit. Of all the tires I've tried the Michelins simply can't be beat. They stick like glue and last almost double of their competition. In the front they can easily last 18-20000km (11-12000miles)...

Front tire aspect ratio

Hi all,

I want to replace my tires with some Bridgestone Battlax BT-023 sport touring tires, but the only front size I see readily available is 120/70ZR17, and stock front for my 2007 695 is 120/60ZR17. Is this do-able? What differences would it make to have a (taller?) different aspect ratio front tire?

My monster 821 came with the diablo rosso II's they are ok but nothing spectacular, grip is mediocre to good when the road is dry and conditions warm. Cold & wet circumstances do not bring the best out of the tire
I had signs of wear very soon, the rear tire started becoming flatter in the middle close to the 5000 km and at ±8000 km (±5 k miles) I was already in the lookout for new tires finally replaced the rear tire at 10000km (6.2 k miles). The front was replaced (i think) at 12000 km (7.2 k miles).

Next was the Michelin pilot road 4 front and rear. Lasted much longer and provided better grip in the wet but did not disappoint on the dry warm conditions either. A good all rounder but produced more noise (as expected) and did not come at 60/180 but 55/180, this messed up with the DTC and mileage. Changed the rear one after 16000 km (±10 k miles) while the front tire is still holding on ok after 19000 km (11.8 k miles)

Last update on the tire front replaced the rear tire to the Diablo Rosso III, after almost 5000 km (3 k miles) I am very impressed retains its shape well, very good grip in the dry - not lots of experience with this one on wet tarmac but lost the back a couple of times slightly in low speed turns around town in the wet, nothing dramatic though.

So far the diablo rosso III has performed the best at least for the rear and I am glad that the wear is even which allows for a good riding experience.
