My 01 Dark got knocked over by an idiot cager last night while parked in front of school, and if it weren't for the heads-up of a fellow rider who witnessed the accident, the bastard would have gotten away with it.

The cager left a note stating "Dude, you parked your bike in a way wrong spot, sorry." He left no address, phone, or vital info and then sped off down the street. Fortunately, the biker who saw it happen, picked up the note from my bike's carcass and wrote down dude's license plate number and car type. A short time later, I see my bike wounded and defenseless lying on its side. I call the police, and when they arrive on scene, they run the plate and file a hit-and-run charge against idiot boy and will be charging him poste haste. My insurance company is also on his a$$. In checking things out for myself, idiot boy is the owner and driver of the vehicle and also goes to the same school I do, what a douche, can't wait to see him in class.

So, the moral of the story is even if they leave a note, it may not have all the information on it that you need. I am greatful that someone took the time to check out the message left at the scene.

Sorry, had to ask: are you in Blacksburg, or Vermont? Either way, you should also notify the school and see if they do anything to him...what a jerk, he deserves to get some sort of punishment.

Glad someone helped you catch idiot boy in the act.

I parked in SF today for a cup a jo (ended up having a great conversation with a Triumph rider). When I get back to my bike I see that some ignoramus in a Land Rover has parked so close to it that I can't even get on the bike! What a numb nut [smiley=angry.gif]

Bravo!...........Justice served. Did the guy really start the note with "Dude"? That right there is enough for a good ol' fashioned butt whippin'. The doof knocks your bike down, then scolds you to boot. Good god....Did he at least pick the bike up and brush her off? What a dink...... [smiley=mad.gif]

WooHoo! Way to go motorcycle justice! Sorry to hear your ride got dinged but that's just so great to hear that this a$$hole is going to get his just-desserts. I'm with colortrix - get that jerk busted by the university! I know that's pretty vindictive, but not nearly as cruel as crushing a man's precious baby and then having the balls to leave a note like that. I bet he's your typical pooka-shell wearing , SUV driving, meathead frat-boy (no offense to any pooka-shell wearing, SUV driving, meathead frat-boys in this forum ;D)

Glad to hear justice was served. Reminds me of that old urban legend about the guy who returns to find his car dented and a note on the windshield that reads, "The people watching me write this think I'm leaving my number. I'm not."

Buddy of mine recently had his BMW R1200 knocked over by an SUV. The driver tracked him down him and grudgingly owned up, but later gave him grief about the size of the repair bill. His reply: "Lady, if I rolled your Durango over on its side, you think that wouldn't cost anything to fix??"

Make sure make a claim on HIS insursance for the repair price and the diminished value. A bike that has been over is not worth as much. Make sure you make the claim even if they are idiots about it.

You may need to go to a dealer and get some estimates, but you'll be there anyway getting parts.

I am in Washington DC (and this is the second time my bike has been knocked over) -I don't know what the hell is wrong with the people in this city -too busy, self serving pricks to drive or even pull out of a parking spot with care.

Anyway, bike is at the shop. Dented tank, broken left clip on, scratched left rear set, scratched headlight fairing, broken left turn signal, bent kick stand, scratches on the left Supertrap, my left DP mirror is all scratched. It's going to be a big bill.

Paid a visit to idiot boy at his apartment building yesterday. Called him up on the call box and informed him that the police were charging him with leaving the scene of an accident and that my insurance company would be contacting him shortly. Idiot boy says "wh wh wh what, what, who is this?" Words were stumbling out of his mouth, it was priceless, the guy must have shat himself right there on the phone. The he says "well, uh, did you see the way you were parked?" And I reply "I saw the way I was parked afterwards, vertically not horizontally." I then offered him an out, saying he could come down and talk to me like a civilized person or we could let the police handle things. Then he hung up on me, and never showed downstairs. Biggest puss move ever, this guy has got to be the king of all chicken sh!ts.

Can't wait for him to get burned. Penalty for leaving the scene in DC is a $250 fine, 90 day suspended license. Not to mention the insurance bill he will have to reckon with. This is going to be fun.

I should clarify that "Idiot Boy" is actually a 30 yr old punk a$$ in the same program as me.
