I'm moving to Virginia from California and will most likely be buying a new bike when I get there. I'm trying to work out a budget of what I can afford, but I have no idea how much TTL fee's are there. It'll be in the Newport News area if that helps. I know taxes can vary a bit by county there. Either way it's got to be less then California! >:D

3% sales tax on purchase price
$10 Title fee
$27.50 registration fee

You can purchase tags for 2 years if you plan to keep your ride.

That is beautiful... I think I have a tear in my eye, god bless Virginia [clap]

Thanks for the info, that is way less expenspensive then California! I'm glad I decided to wait till I got there to shop for a new bike.

Of course, the info re TTL doesn't address the annual personal property tax. In Arlington County, for example, the rate is five percent of value over $3,000, payable every year. The state subsidy reduces this to 3% on values under $20,000, which helps some. Still, the owner of a bike with a NADA value of $10k will be paying $210 a year if it's garaged in Arlington.
