OK, this problem has been mentioned on too many threads to be a coincidence.

Let's take a survey:

Has your starter motor ever continued to run after you release the button?

Has your dealer done anything to try and fix it?

Has the problem returned?

Year and make of bike?

I'll start:

It's happened to me half-dozen times+. Have not been to the dealer for this, but I've heard that the solenoids on several bikes have been changed out in an attempt to fix this. Not sure if the attempted repairs were successful.

Yep, happened to me about three times, had to turn the key toff to stop.
I attributed it to not setting the choke on a cold engine and holding the starter in too long. I didn

Happened a few times. Found that if I turn it on, let the gages do their thing and start right away, no problem. If I wait it hits that "gray zone" before the 15 second kill switch activates and BAM, starter sticks. Haven't experienced the problem since then. It has happened to me two or three times. I figured no big deal, turned off the key to stop it and tried again with no problem. Just one of those quirks that come with Duc ownership I think.

Yes.. happened twice. I had taken a while to hit the ignition button after turning the key to 'on'.. so I figured it's a software glitch or something with the ECU... hasn't happened since I speed up my 'turn key ---> hit button' process.

No.. never took it in for that. not a big enough problem to give up the use of my bike for a while..

Yup,
I've had it happen a few times. I took it in to the dealer twice and they never found anything wrong with the bike.
The bike is 2 months old and has 1950miles. It has happened about 4-5 times. Pulling the key out is the only way to kill it.
Oddly though, it has stopped happening since about 900 miles or so. Maybe it just happens to newer bikes?

And who would that be? I've been on a quest to find a good Duc mechanic since Pro Italia announced that they didn't know you could put clipons on Monsters and there was nothing that could be done about the abrupt off-throttle on-throttle changes (I WILL find a solution to that one, I swear). :)

To stay on-topic, no, it hasn't happened to me.

Happened to me once.

Did not take it in and has not happened since.

I did have to go as far as dropping the kick stand down in gear to keep it from firing up.

No, I replaced the starter solenoid out of pocket

I found that if I tapped on the solenoid the starter would stop, so I dug through my parts bin and found a H*nda solenoid that I was able to splice in. Never had the problem again, and the starter seems to have more oomph now anyways.

4-5 times..02 620 dark

My dealer told me the switch needed WD-40 (this was during my 600 mile service) They charged me to do this. did it a couple times since. This is one of many resons I think my dealer is an idiot.
