Anyone ever try Speeds Cycles in Elkridge. It is closer to me than to Batley's.

Bought 2 bikes from them.

Speed, the owner is the mechanic.

Some feel he is a little gruff, but I get along fine with him.

They have a new shop right on route 1. Looks a lot better then the old one.

The have an potluck night every wednesday night. Good way to meet them on a friendly basis. Their annual open house is...I think this Saturday, not positive.

Where exactly is Speeds Cycles? I've never even heard of the shop. How large is it & what other lines does he carry? I might have to make it to the Open House this Saturday.

Speeds is located on route 1 about 1/4 mile south of 195 (BWI access road). For those of you in VA it is about 15 to 20 minutes north of the 95/495 junction.

Speeds sells Ducatis and Moto Guzzi's only.

To chime in, I've gotten my bike worked on at Speed's. The shop has just about the entire ducati lineup on their showroom floor. "Gruff"... yeah it seems that Speed does not go out of his way to be friendly to new folks. I also asked about a flip up helmet there and the salesman basically told me not to get one because they are NOT cool.

Anyways all that aside, they seem to be honest and do good work - albeit they work at their own pace.

I drive out of my way to get my bike service at Speeds. I will be giving them first shot when I buy a new bike. Very impressed. Worth the drive. Can't say enough good things about them.

I've purchased two Ducati's from Bob at Speed's - a 2001 996 and a 2002 FF900SS.

To my knowledge, Speed has never worked on my bikes while they were in his shop. He has a Duc mechanic to do those things.

My other Duc, a 2001 M900Sie, was purchased at Koup's in Harrisburg, PA.

I rate Koup's and Speed's on the same plane. Adequate. The best shop is BCM in Laconia, NH.
