Re: Smart, skilled ,curvy maturity

It's good that you've reached the conclusion relatively early. At the end of the day riding is the reason you bought the bike. On our local rides we have an AFM racer (Gary J) leading A groups on his wife's Ninja 250. It's all about skill.

Enjoy!

Yeah, I'm thinkin "Stacy's Mom"! Any way...I think it's more of a maturity thing than a Ducati thing. Allthough, I must admit, I'm the coolest person I know!!!!! ;D

I rode a 250 ninja back in the day- 91/92. those things are actually quite fast. I could keep up with the zx-7 and ninja 600 to about 100mph, after that the others were gone. But I was always amazed at the get up a lil bike like that had.
you know people talk about speed, cornering etc.. I am just trying to focus on not crashing again. That really puts a damper on the self confidence- and the fun for that matter! :'(

I'll say this it really pisses off the crotch rocket riders when you ride with them. They can't out run your monster till they hit triple digits and after an hour of riding you can hop of the bike with a spring in your step while they have to unfold themselves. People just seem to notice the Duc a bit more.

I was riding the monster one day and had to pop into the local Auto Zone. There was a chromed out Harley in the parking lot. I went in, got my junk and went to check out. The clerk asked me if my bike was a Honda. Gasp! No, i replied, its a ducati monster. Well needless to say the store cleared out to the parking lot to gawk, including the Harley guy. I even let them sit on my baby. Grins all around. You just do not get that from most folk when you putz around on a 4 familys bike.

True that TX, the guy who got me into Ducati's has a Norton Commando 850. He was riding down 215 in Western NC which is a really tight wonderfully twisty road, (i think its better than deals gap). Anyways he is about 49 and caught up to these sport bike guys and really pissed off a guy on a TL1000, he would pass that TL on his old Norton on the inside of corners and through the turns, then the TL would come blazing past him in a straightaway, then he would pass the TL again in the next set of corners. Its all about the riders skill, its all about the rider. I would have to have been there riding with him ;)

I'l have to agree with you, 215 is better than the Gap any day. I used to ride 215, 176, and 276 every weeekend when I lived up there. And it never failed, I'd be slowed down by someone on the newest, fastest, lightest thing out , and he would turn bright red when I told him my bike only dynoed 72rwhp and didn't weigh that much less than his. I was up in North Georgia this past weekend and the peole I was riding with were all on twins, and an ATK 605 Motard, and we were constantly catching up to "ricer boys" decked out in full leathers and pretending to go fast. The only place that they showed any speed in the straightaways, and when we pulled over at an overlook, they would pull in and be like "Dude, we smoked you back there on that one straight, I thought Ducati's were fast." And we would have to remind them that we got to the overlook 3 minutes before them. I love my Duc.
