I'd like to meet some of you guys and go on some rides, but I'm wondering how you all feel about and deal with slower or newer riders on group rides? I've grown up on dirt bikes and I'm used to throwing myself up hills and over rock piles- this street riding is taking some getting used to. You all seem to be more than accommodating, I'm just wondering how it all works...

I can't speak for others...but will anyway :) I don't like riding in big groups but small groups are fun. Everyone rides (or should) at their own pace. No reason to feel pressure to keep up, slow down, whatever. People just go. The front runners take off, the slower riders drop back and everyone reconnects at the next turnoff or pre designated rendezvous. Nobody wants others in the group to be riding over their comfort zone. Too many of us have had to hang around and deal with the sometimes unpleasant results.

My suggestion is to hook up with others on the board for a ride. Have a little pre ride talk to discuss the route and go at your own pace...knowing that the fast guys will be up ahead chillin out and waiting for the tail end to catch back up. It's about having a good time.

The few group rides I've been on with members from this board were very civilized. You'll meet some really interesting and, most important of all, mellow people. Nobody here's gonna race you, and nobody's gonna leave you behind.

Then you can take us to Hungry Valley and leave us in your dust...

I went there once when we had our XR650. It was too heavy for my wife and she couldn't pick it up by herself every time she dropped it. We were also on old knobbies so traction was non-existant.... we did vouch to get us a pair of 125s or 250s and return, but have since discovered another money pit - Ducatis and trackdays...

I really want to go back though.

We got a ride on Sat. maybe on ACH.

Just come along and see if you are slow or not. The first ride I went on I thought I was going to be slow and I had only owned my bike (my first) for 2 months and I had never ridden in a group and I only had a 620 and I had never ridden by the Rock Store, blah blah blah, but in the end I was fine. You might be suprize yourself.

BTW my english teacher says my run on sentancces and my spellin' is getting gooder by the second. ;D

ACH!!?? Wooo hooo - Definitely need a ride, been in St. Louis, MO freezing for a week, miss my Monster - A LOT!

Hey Lead_Teeth - Most likely you are quite a bit faster than I am - I've heard that dirt riding is the best experience and usually make the greatest street riders!

It's not about how fast you go, it's about the ride and your own comfort zone! Safety first!

I usually ride out with a few friends on Sundays from San Diego. As always, one and all are welcome! I try and post on Fridays if I'm headin' out on the weekend. Speed doesn't matter unless, of course, you're faster than me. ;D It's a really chill crowd with cool steeds.

Had a great time!
