I have a 2003 620ie which I bought from a lady with 900 miles on. I have put 300 miles on.
Today I took it out and was riding hard for about 45 min, I took a break, turned the bike off and rested for about 5 min. Climbed back on and opened it up and the RPMs went straight to 10,000 and I was not going any where fast. I guess the clutch was slipping. What was interesting was at one point with the RPM's high and I could feel it slipping the clutch suddenly started to work great and I had a ton of power to deal with. Kind of got me off guard.

Any way, I did change the oil around 1000 miles and used Mobil 1 Racing 4T.

Do you think being a wet clutch the oil is not correct for the bike?
Or do you think I bought a bike were I had somebody trying to learn how to ride and has ridden the clutch for 900 miles?

that would be really early to kill a clutch but i guess it is possible i guess

i would try an oil change first as that is a cheaper fix if it works.

get a full synthetic moto specific oil (mobil does make one, other brands too)
