I found a great deal on a 2001 748. My heart wants it. No bike has ever spoken to me like the 916-series design. I can't justify owning one, so I won't try. Honestly, it will sit in my garage 99.9% of the time. If it rains I won't take it out. If it's cloudy I won't take it out. If the wind is blowing sand I won't take it out. I will love it, I will detail it, I will obsess over it. It makes no sense to buy it. I want it.

This thread is not about price. It's not about which mods it has or how good of a deal it is. It's about lust and the lack of common sense. >:D

Oh yeah, I sold the ST so I'm offically Duc-less. I still have the little SV to pick on, though.

if you do not give the monkey what he desires, he will be very unhappy with you, and will no longer be your friend when your drink lets him out of the cage.

you must have the 748.

If you're looking for people to talk you out of it, you've come to the wrong place.

don't do it!

you'll just wish you bought a 996 or 998 instead

and after owning it for a while the mystique will wear off. and then owning one, and not really riding it much will make even less sense.

I chose the 748R to ride earlier this week - dunno... she always puts a smile on my face after a good flogging. :)

I feel that way about a 1098. :p

Back on topic, yes you should buy the 748. One day I will add one to my stable too - to be a track bike. ;D

Buy my roommates ;)
This bike is priced considerably lower, which makes a difference to my cheap-ass. I lusted after your roommate's bike when I saw it, as well.

This is my all time favorite poll. 31 votes at last look, all "YES." [laugh]

I voted yes too, BTW.
