Hi guys.
250 miles of beauty. 101 to 33 Oaji up to the summit ( gorgeous road) down to the desert to the Lockwood Valley Road ( unbelievable ) to the 5 ( 5 miles) than into the 138 Pine Canyon Rd. to Elizabeth Lake Road to Palmdale to Angeles Forest Hwy to Big tujunga Canyon Rd to the 210.
Are you a man? Can you take it?

Take a look on the Map Los Padres Component of the Transverse Ranges: Rates a 5 on everybody's 5 scale -

The only problem is the stream crossing on Lockwood Valley. I'm still finding mud in hidden spots on my bike. Nasty, silty, never get off the bike mud.

Have you done this route or just getting an idea for a ride??

I did 5 to Lockwood to Oaji to the 150(I think) to Santa Paula and the 126, then home to Valencia. It's a nice change to the normal ACH or Rock Store route.

Lucas,

As I said last Saturday, I'm very much interested but cannot commit at this point. Too many variables. Would the fires have any impact on your route at all?

I should be able to give you a definitive answer by Thursday, I hope.

Here's a map of my understanding of lucas's route:

About 264 miles, starting and ending in Pasadena.

I did the west end, the section of 33 from Ojai up to the top left corner of the map (to Songdog Ranch) on the 18th. It's good stuff. Did the east end, Angeles Forest Highway, a while back.

That's a long ride on a Monster.....
Add on about another 100 miles for Tom/infoage or myself, half of which is nasty slab traffic at the end of the day.

Looks like two epic rides forming up for this weekend. :)
Astounding, really. The difference six months makes.....

Scott's right, the section of 150 from Santa Paula to Ojai is a lot more fun than the 101........

A'ight, here's what I'd do. My brother-in-law is in town, visiting from Germany. We'd rent two bikes for him and me (I think HD is the only brand one can get around these parts, right?) and bring my wife to ride the Monster. Would we still be allowed along? :) At least they're twins, right? ;D

It's looking to be a long weekend of riding.

Spectrum Motor sports rents Ducs and other sports bikes.
Sweet, thanks Scott and Anthony! Gave them a call, it's actually not Spectrum but there's a company on the Spectrum site that rents out all current 600's (didnt' ask about literbikes). They're also opening a location in Del Amo on 11/1!! That's cool, but y'all won't be able to keep up with us LOL.

There is a GREAT place to stop outside of Santa Barbara called the Cold Springs Tavern.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT Beer Battered Onion Rings.....

The ride up the 101 is kinda boring, did that ride on my 748 and my arms almost fell off...

Hi guys.
Good to see so many responses. I'm starting to like this group
of hardcore riders. Let's keep this pack of wolves tied.

Gotta 'second' ducseven's comment, Cold Springs Tavern is definitely worth a stop. IIRC, I had Jackrabbit there once...

Thanks for the link Lucas!

Help keep us posted if you can. If the fire situation is sketchy I may not ride this weekend. My baby doesn't like the smoke. ;)

AC

I'm down. Lucas, is your route pretty much what Eric, sorry, Nick drew up in his map? What about we meet at Sunset and PCH again and take PCH up to the 101 via Oxnard? Either way, wherever/ whenever you want to meet up is fine. Just let us know.

Terrible,
let's meet at the same place at 8.00 am.
P.s. The route is what Nick drew.
BTW we should get a map.
Ciao

I'd love to go but once again work gets in the way of fun. I've got to go to the company picnic and grip & grip with the higher-ups and the lower-down folks that I don't like. Fun for all :'(
