i used to sell motorcycles between my years in college. you've gotta remember that sales people are like sharks but where sharks can smell blood, sales people smell "lust"...
if you walk in there reaking of lust for this bike, you're not getting a deal. if you go in with interest (so the guy know's you're serious about making a purchase), but aren't foaming at the mouth, you can haggle with them.
if the dealer starts tooting about how this is the latest/greatest monster, limited production, blah blah blah... just say "but i can get a great deal on a leftover monster s4 (non-R)". mention the apr!ll!a 2-oh-no and how great a bargain it is... dare i say it? even mention the yamahahaha FZ1!! finally, mention that everybody and their sister knows ducati's sales #'s aren't what they should be and that selling a bike for a little less than list is better than not selling it at all!!!
no, you won't walk out with a $10k S4R, but you should be able to shave a little (maybe a grand) off the price. see if you can squeeze a free service or something out of them too. and good luck!!!!
