this bike was gently laid down on the right side. the brake lever was snapped off as well as the back brake lever. thats about it. The problem is this. When I took off the entire front brake bracket the pads are engaged. once i installed the new bracket the front pads are still engaged and when i squeeze the lever it doesn't feel like its affecting the brakes at all. Why would the pads be engaged the whole time? and what do you think I can do. please be specific as im a novice.

Your caliper pistons are probably fully extended. Take a large straight blade screwdriver, using it as a lever (not a chisel) and gently separate the brake pads, and install the caliper.

Make sure you have a solid brake lever and pedal once reinstalled, if it is soft or mushy you most likely have air trapped in the lines and you'll need to have the systems bled.
