I brought up this topic in another thread but really didn't want to hijack it so here I am again. Has anyone seen a Roof Boxer in person? Worn it, ridden with it, touched or carressed it? I have only been able to find them on the net and all local dealers have never even heard of them. A great info site is www.thunderchild.co.uk/ Please let me know any opinions or experience you have with this. Thanks!

i own a large red helmet. really like but 2 issues;
1- they run a little large- i have a large head and it is a little loose. my dainese helmet (L) fits me fine
2. not snell or dot certified, so bummer on track days
3. I use it as my winter helmet with a baclava as it also is slightly less ventilated.

The good is that it looks really cool and the flip up is better than my dainese

take care

The Roof Boxer Helmet I owned about 2 years ago wasnt good beside from its looks. I hear the newer ones are of a much better quality. They're at their 3rd generation already.

Never heard of Roof Boxer. But If it's not DOT as a minimum then you can't use them anyway so there's not a lot to be said carrying something you can't sell if your a retailer. Use an Arai myself. Looked for a while to find one that fit well. Expensive but it fits great. Hopefully I never need it for its intended purpose!

Im not sure about DOT but I think they are BSI, which is higher standards in Europe.
I think there not DOT because there is no U.S distribution, last I looked.
You had to order from U.K

I agree with raven I heard that too.
I know the roof helmets are approved in Canada due to the Europen higher standards. There's is few distributors in the US as i recall but i forgot who there are.

Boxers are available in the USA at:
http://www.acstek.com/retail

I considered getting one for a while until I actually put one on my head. Not very plush, and not the right shape for me. All of the moving parts didn't feel real sturdy. The US retailer sells them for $390, and I don't think that it has the quality of other $400 helmets available. I'm not sure whether I tried on the newest version though.

As pointed out, the Boxer is not DOT certified, but is BSI certified. I wear a BSI certified helmet (OGK), and have found that it's not an issue for track days, as most international and US racing organizations recognize BSI certification. However, I don't think that I'd wear a flip-up on a track.

Hrmm...that link to the website isn't working...

After seeing these helmets, I'm definitely interested, but obviously, safety is a huge factor. I was reading an article/review by someone (http://webbikeworld.com/Reviewed-motorcycle-products/user-reports/roof-boxer.htm) who noted some pretty big flaw in the helmet. OBviously, it could've been his particular one...but it makes me wonder....

Does anyone else out there have the Roof Boxer...and if so, how would you rate it? I realize fogging is an issue (which could be fixed with Fog City Pro Shield or something...I just wanted to know how sturdy the clip mechanism was for the chin and other features...

Thanks
