This is reposted to Tech based on some comments to move this question here:

Question: What is the best way to adjust rear rideheight on a 695? It seems a bit low. I would like it higher in the back. Also want the performance gains associated with this adjustment....

Some replies mentioned dampening and preload adjustment:[30 clicks of dampening adjustment and some preload]

Questions:
1.)wouldn't dampening adjustment just make the shock stiffer?
2.)if I were to adjust the preload, would that make a slightly noticeable height difference?

Thanks for any and all answers.....

Cheers,

I don't think the 695 comes with a ride height adjuster, it has a fixed "dogbone", but you can buy adjustable ones from several vendors. IMO raising the rear is the best thing you can do to a monster in the handling dept.

More preload *might* raise the rear slightly, especially if you have a lot of sag using the stock spring, but jacking the preload is not a good way to raise the rear.

The only other adjustment you have on the stock shock is rebound damping (not dampening) and that should be balanced with the unadjustable rebound on the front forks.
