Don't know a thing about suspensions except that I should probably adjust mine for my weight. I have a 2002 S4, and I weigh 190 lbs.

What is the best adjustment to make for the suspension settings? For that matter, what's the difference between compression and rebound damping, and what does preload mean?

Thanks for answering my idiot questions,
Ben

Don't know what the proper setup is, but here's the explanation of the terms.

Compression/rebound damping adjustment controls how the shock dampens spring action upon spring compressing (compression) and decompressing (rebound)

Preload is how much the spring is compressed at rest, when suspension is unloaded.

Compression/rebound damping is set on the shock. Preload is set on the spring by moving locknuts up or down

here's some general tuning info i used way back when... the format has changed but the info is the same. they pretty much lay it out without pimping to much of their own services. you'll be really surprised how such little incremental changes could really improve or degrade the ride.
