Had a shop owner tell me not to bother with the Power Commander III cause its crap....

Didnt ask him why he thought this... but I'd like to hear if anyone here feels the same way...

Anyone?

I put one on my Honda 919 and it was toatlly worth it for the stock exhaust and especially worth it when I added after market slipons. However I wouldn't get a PCIII unless there was a fuel map that matched a particular exhaust setup, either stock or aftermarket.

Just my $.02,
Dan

if/when ducati ever gets around to posting the s4r's spare parts catalog on their web-site, we may find that the same PCIII available for the s4 will apply to the s4r. if the two bikes share injectors and potentiometers, it'll be a direct swap. mapping will vary of course, but the hardware will be compatible. this is what i'm guessing but we'll know for sure when the parts sheet's available!

My local powercommander importer said that the hardware is the same, you just have to load a correct map.

He had a shipment on the way with the Ultimap U59 ecu. We might try both on my bike, as soon as the Sil exhaust arrives.

you're correct. the '02 bikes' ecu's are NOT reprogramable. clarify the model year with your dealer. then clarify that it's got the 5.9 marrelli ECU, not a flash memory chip. if he insists that he'll remap it, then he's just plain wrong.

you CAN fiddle with the stock computer's settings for CO levels and TPS settings, but these are not the "best" ways to manage your fuel needs.

He just left a message on my machine saying that He could NOT reprogram my computer since it was a 5.9 Marelli (thanks Strati! I knew what he was talking about when he mentioned it..)

I dont see how the PowerCommander could be crap, as long as it doesnt malfunction, it should be a good product.

Had the pops and farts on Sophie.
Ordered the PCIII with the Ferracci full exhaust last spring.

Farts and pops are now gone,Dyno tuning got rid of a couple of flat spots and made the torque curve slightly more wide.

Seat of the pants feel indicates there is more usable power everywhere, and throttle response is even better than factory.

The PCIII did NOT turn the bike into a Hyabusa loose in a china shop, but it did bypass the burps and glitches while making the bike more pleasing to ride.

It's a good buy,and especially so when the bike is tuned using the thing.

The Map sent on the PC was darn close to start with, and I suspect individual bike deviations were the only thing that had to be tuned out by the dyno shop.

I would gladly add the PCIII to the next Duck I get my hands on.

Hope this helps.
