Can anyone tell me if they have or know of somebody who has reformed the pipes on their bike?. I have a DP full system and the cans are low even for the high system. I thought I may be able to heat up one of the bends and slightly pull it up further to the frame, does this seem reasonable? Any help would be great.

Thanks

It can be done.

Gotta be careful to distribute the heat around a good sized area, and don't overheat it, the tubing is pretty thin.

I'd recommend going to a muffler shop and get a piece of plain steel tubing about the same diameter, and experiment on that first. Get a feel for the process on something cheap and disposable, then when you have the technique down, go for it on the real thing.

It's not likely going to be as smooth a bend as what you've got now, but it may satisfy your desires.

As an alternative, a skilled fabricator/welder should be able to do it for you. More cake than the DIY, of course.......

One trick I've heard is filling the tubing with sand before heating and then making the bend. I've never tried this, so I would take Nick's advice and practice with some similar stainless tubing first. It would be a shame to mangle a nice set of full system Termis.

Go slow, it would be real easy to have that tubing collapse in your hands...you would feel bad, and it is very possible that you would generate a lynching mob by doing so, further compounding your woes.

I'd lean towards having someone with a real tubing bender do it for you. That thin stuff really wants to crease when you try to bend it, and I'm not so sure that the heat wont hurt your efforts more than help.
