I was out on my 900 tonight and I was riding with a fellow monster man and I had a problem with my bike starting to spit and cough then it died. I let it sit for 5 minutes and it started back up and then a few blocks later it died again. Then we sat at a restaraunt for a half hour and then got on and it seemed like it never had the problem. And my buddy's temp gauge was at 262 and having a 99 I dont have that luxury. I just got my baby back from the shop and got new pipes and a jet kit put in it. The guy that did it was telling me before I picked it up that he was having trouble dialing the carbs in. Any thoughts guys?

There seem to be a lot of threads with heat related stalling lately. Take a look in tech section.

It has been associated with with a vapor lock in the tank. You can pop the cap and see if there is a woosh of air into the tank next time it happens. Or, if a fuel line is run next to a cylinder, it can cause a pinch in the line when the line gets hot.

i don't know ... i think i gotta agree with raafrebel. if
it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck (hey, sorry for
the obvious analogy) ... running hot sounds like an excessive
lean condition, and if you just had someone fooling with the
jets, maybe they didn't do it right.
