Hello, I didn't receive my owners manual with my Monster (they say they will ship me one, yeah right) anyway, I'm curious about the range of temperature that my oil should be running, I took a ride today and it was near or at 100 degrees (outside temp) and during the ride when I was only able to do 30 to 35 mph, my oil temp was getting up over 230 and almost got to 240. I know that is too hot for water temp, but is that too hot for oil temp? seems at least a little too warm to me. thanks in advance.

Boy, glad to hear it, I was waiting for the valves to start clicking and the bearings to start rattling  Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

arecarless is correct, 230 to 240 is OK. It makes sure that any water that finds it's way into the oil is evaporated.

Don't panic on the water thing. Water is one product of combustion, and air is pumped in and out of the crankcase as it runs and cools off after running, and there's water (humidity) in the air.

High 200's is very hard on conventional (non-synthetic) oil.

BTW, you can download the owner's manual and a parts manual here:
