I checked my oil level and noticed that it seems too full. It is not between the lines but above them both. And this is when the bike is cold so I am sure it's even higher when warm. The reason this puzzles me is my oil was changed by the dealership at 600 miles and they are experienced ducati tech guys.

So is this fine or should I drain the oil to be between the too lines. Also I am at 1500 miles. So when is a good time for the next oil change.

Slight over-filling (assuming you can still see the oil level, and the sightglass isn't just "full") won't cause any issues other than higher oil consumption - thus making it a self-correcting problem :) Severe over-filling can cause blown seals and other nastiness, but if it's only a little high, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

While I am no expert on any subject, I believe the way to check your oil is not while the engine is cold. Sure I would make sure it has oil before starting but a cold engine has all the oil in the bottom of the cases. The procedure that I follow is to start my motor allow the engine to thouroughly? warm up. turn off the engine wait one to two minutes then check the sight glass. It may be better off. If it is still high I would recommend getting some out to get the oil between the two lines. They put those lines on there for a reason. Hope this helps. Again after draining (if you need to) check with same routine listed above.
