OEM Rear Shock on S2R.. is it worth adjusting? (performance/safety)

726 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  le_katZ
hey all,

i m doing a 400+mi trip on S2R with a passenger. I've been riding around town 2 up and it seems fine, but the manual suggests
i should be tweaking the rear shock according to the weight.. me plus the passenger/gear will amount to a bit under 300lb
basicaly doubling my weight or so.

should i try to adjust this OEM shock or will it not make that much difference in performance/safety?
if yes.. by how many clicks..turns or what/not..

i thank you in advance!

With 300 lbs on that stock spring I would suggest adjusting the spring collars all the way down. The bike will feel much better if you do so.

The correct way to check would be to check sag with you and your passenger/gear on the bike. The FAQ has a write up on how to do this.

Have a great trip.

thank you for a quick response.. do you mean turning the ring nuts all the way down, thereby compressing the spring?

Exactly. When I had my stock spring/shock I had to do the same for 2 up. I guess I'm heavier than you, but with me and the g/f on the bike there was 300lbs and the bike would bottom out. They use the same progressive spring on your bike. Go for it.
