Join us at Ducati New York on January 18th at 7:00pm to celebrate the
North American unveiling of "New Blue"—a modern replica of the 1977
Daytona winning 750SS campaigned by Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling
throughout the mid 1970's. Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling built the
750SS into a remarkably successful race bike and nicknamed the
motorcycle "Old Blue" in reference to the team's attractive livery.
New Blue began life as a Ducati SportClassic Sport 1000 S and was sent
to NCR's factory for cosmetic replication and race preparation. NCR was
able to remove an astounding eighty-four pounds of dry weight and add
an additional 30 horsepower to the motorcycle.

Cook Neilson, Ducati North America CEO, Michael Lock and a
representative from NCR will be on hand. Cocktails will be served
throughout the evening. Please help us commemorate this occasion!

Just passed by the shop... they took the whole street out for parking. 20 or so cases of peroni sitting by the front door.

In case it snows, if anyone lives uptown, I'd love to play chase to someone to get home safe. Getting worried.

I chickened out this morning and took the subway into work. The forecast wasn't too inviting, and wouldn't you know it... it's sprinkling snow as I type.
I caught a quick preview of "New Blue" last night and I left there wishing I had $65k laying around!
I'll be walking to the unveiling from work in my orange "blaze" camo if anyone should care to say hi!

New Blue was pretty amazing. Too many people crowding around it to get a good photo but I did get some of the 1098

One thing that surprised me was the size of the 1098. A look at the specs doesn't do it justice. It's got a profile like a razor-blade. It's beautifully designed and by far the sexiest bike I've ever seen. It doesn't take a second glance to see how it weighs in at 100 lbs less than either the Busa or the ZX-14. This is a special breed of bike. Nothing is wasted on the 1098. Trully astonishing motorcycle.
