Would it be possible to get rid of the hoop on the 851 style frame by buying a newer dss with the shock and linkage. I'm guessing not but worth trying.

You'll need to fabricate a new pivot mount for the rocker, as it's in a far different position on the ST style frame.

You would have to modify the frame. It is not worth it.
