Hi All,

I'm a multiple monster owner (2-valve) and am considering the purchase of a 2004 S4R with 4300 miles on it... It has the "ducati pipe mod" cored muffler mod performed to it with no ECU remap, it also still has the Catalytic converter still in place. My questions are, should I be concerned of any engine damage due to the modification and stock ECU? Also, if I were to buy it and wanted to remove the cat, would I then definitely need an ECU upgrade? Any thoughts from those in the know would be appreciated... Thanks!

cored pipes without ECU remap probably isn't a big deal. It might be a little lean, but since it still has the converter on there, probably not lean enough to do any damage. ask to look at the spark plugs. they should be a toasty brown. if they are scorched white it was running lean.

if you get rid of the cat, you'll definitely need a new ECU or some kind of tune adjustment.
