im having a problem on my 97` 600 monster. i have aquired my
bike from a friend.. but later on i have experienced that after
taking the bike for a turn lets say a 30minute stroll, the bike
itself starts to loose its power, like its starting to have a
sliding clutch but from a cold start the clutch performs wel.
i would really appreciate your help..

lot of thanks,
kerli

I've only experienced slipping clutches in cars, but I would expect you'd be able to verify the diagnosis in the same way.

If the clutch is slipping, you can get on the gas hard and clearly tell that the engine is accelerating faster than the bike. If the engine revs without the bike accelerating, the clutch is slipping. If the engine doesn't rev, then it's something else.

Other people have mentioned the same feeling, and it could be related to a vapor lock in the gas tank after the bike gets warm.

If you test the clutch and find it's not slipping, check your fuel filter and pump. I've had fuel filters in dirt bikes get some sediment in them, which sits at the bottom until you get moving around and unsettle it.

Also check that the fuel line coming from the filter is not being pinched against the vertical cylinder or someplace else (tank/frame junction, etc..) where it's either being pinched shut or getting too hot.

That's often the culprit when I have those symptoms.
