I`m looking to upgrade the suspension on my 2007 S4Rt.
This is what I have been able to figure out so far:

Rear shock - The Öhlins DU333, as ugly as they can possibly get with it`s golden colour and external pre-load and N2 tank.
But a good quality shock that bolts on, no sweat.

Penske - 8983 or 8987 good quality (maybe just as good as the Öhlins) and visually a much better match
with my gray bike. Ti spring is a nice touch.

Matris - M05R kind of a dark horse, I have not been able to find much feedback regarding installation on a
Monster.

All of the above are custom built to suit bike, rider and riding style.

Front forks - Re-valve and respring, a good fix for the Showa. Relatively cheap and "good enough" for street riding?

Öhlin SBK / ST forks, need to machine/change triple clamp. But high quality forks BUT again the f*****g
gold colour.

Matris F05R Cartridge, should be a good fit and high quality but limited info from users.

Marzocchi USD 43 Not quite sure of the quality of these forks, guessing OK but little or no feedback
from Ducati users.

I have not decided what I`m going to use on my bike. Leaning towards a Penske (rear) matris (front) set up.
Any input/experience will be very much appreciated!!

Bring it on!

One brand to consider is Wilbers. I have their 641 rear shock in a S4R and it is very good, feels way better than stock suspension in a gixxer for example, havent tried Öhlins though.

I`ve now settled for a "ÖhlinCati" S4RS shock and Öhlins springs in the front end. The bike is going to be serviced (12 000km) and getting the suspension upgrade early August, really looking forward to it!

Sorry I'm so late to the party but I just now saw this thread.

I had the Matris F05R cartridge in my S2R1K and it is by far the best suspension upgrade for the cost, no questions asked.

I had the opportunity to spend the night with DNA's S4Rs a few years back after riding control for them at my local dealership. The Ohlins made that bike ride like a tank compared to the Matris.

Just curious, did you actually find a fitment for the F05R cartridge for the S4Rt? If so, where did you find the info? I have an S4Rt now and I have been giving serious thought to installing a set of forks from a 1098 just so I could use the Matris cartridges.

The best performance/price combo I've come up with over the years is an Ohlins rear shock and their supersport race kit in USD 43mm Showa forks with (tin sliders preferably).
You can send the forks to directly to Ohlins USA in Hendersonville, NC.
