Hi, I'm working on a 2000 monster 600, it's got a new reg/rec unit, and most of the wiring has been cleaned up and checked. It's been running great for the last few weeks, but all of a sudden it's started blowing the 7.5A ignition fuse. It will start and run happily, you can rev it and hold the throttle open as much as you dare without a problem.
As soon as you set off riding it , you get about 100M and the fuse blows.
Does anyone have any ideas on this, it's driving me insane.
Thanks.

Check the resistance on your coils. Can't remember exactly what it's supposed to be, but they should be the same.

I would take a real close look at all the wiring on that circuit. Get a wiring diagram. Snip the zip ties on that section of harness and look at for wire rubbing on the frame . Clean and plug in those connectors from both sides. My regulator wire rubbed through and caused this. It couldn’t be seen until I clipped the zip ties.
